Gillows

Classic English furniture firm Gillow & Co was founded by carpenter and cabinet maker Robert Gillow in Lancaster in the early 18th century. The company expanded into London, supplying high quality pieces often made from fashionable mahogany which was imported from the West Indies.

Gillows was one of the few English firms to stamp their furniture with their name. The name continued when the firm merged with Warings of Liverpool to become Waring and Gillow at the turn of the 20th century.
